I think the movies were mad...I never read Twilight. I think the movies were made not too long after the books came out, and once I see an adaptation, I won't read the books. I don't think I avoid hyped books, but the hype doesn't necessarily make me want to read them any faster either. All those heavy hitters up there, aside from the Acevedo books, were recommended by my daughter. I trust her judgement, when it comes to books, and they were hits for me. I loved the first two, but I was so disappointed with Clockwork Princess. I didn't read any of the books after that. I gave it 3 stars and that was generous for me considering my feelings.
