Top Ten Tuesday - Books I Wish I Could Smell

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Books I Wish I Could Smell!

Happy Tuesday! Today, we are supposed to be talking about series we enjoyed. I have not been a big series reader for quite a while. The closest I get are companion novels which just aren't the same. I had missed a topic about books and smells, so I thought I would circle back.

I love scents. I know about the drama associated with synthetic scents, but I enjoying the natural fragrances of the world. When I was thinking about books I have read, I found I could put these ones I wished I could smell into one of two groups - food smells and nature smells.

Food, Glorious Food!

The five books below featured a LOT of cooking or baking. There were so many times during the story where I wished I could smell or taste what they were talking about.
  1. The Secret of Orange Blossom Cake by Rachel Linden
  2. The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister
  3. Vera Wong's Guide to Snooping (on a Dead Man) by Jesse Q. Sutanto
  4. The Strawberry Patch Pancake House by Laurie Gilmore
  5. If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia

The Glory of Nature

The next five books featured a lot of the great outdoors. The characters spent time outside, in gardens, or near bodies of water. There is nothing I love more than to enjoy a flower's perfume, the clean, crisp scent of the ocean, or invigorating pine of the forest.
  1. Where You're Planted by Melanie Sweeney
  2. Half a Chance by Cynthia Lord
  3. Left of Forever by Tarah DeWitt
  4. Beach House Rules by Kristy Woodson Harvey
  5. The Summer We Ran by Audrey Ingram

What books do you think would smell great?

  2. The forest smells so good. I haven't been up in the mountains for a long time.

    1. So good! And I think the mountains can have their own sort of clean smell too.

  3. What a great idea, Sam. I would love to be able to smell what is happening in a book when I read it. I love the smell of the beach and read a lot of books set near water. The Secret of Orange Blossom Cake would have smelled amazing.
