Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole’s Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly “rediscovered” books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This Week I Can’t Wait For:

He's cosplaying as her boyfriend but their feelings for each other are real in this romantic comedy from Seressia Glass.
Sometimes Kenya Davenport believes she was switched at the hospital--how else could a lover of anime, gaming, and cosplay come from STEM parents? Still, Kenya dreams of being able to turn her creative hobby into a career. She finally has a chance to make it big when she joins the reality show competition Cosplay or No Way.
There's just one catch: the challenge for the final round is all about iconic pairs, and the judges want the contestants' significant others to participate. Unfortunately, Kenya is as single as can be at the moment. Luckily her best friend, Cameron Lassiter, agrees to be her fake boyfriend for the show.
Roleplaying a couple in love will force them to explore what they're hiding under the mask of friendship. Can Kenya and Cam fake it until she makes it, or will she be real about her feelings, knowing it could cost her the best friend she's ever had?
Why I’m Waiting
Glass is a new-to-me author, but I couldn’t resist adding this book to the TBR when I saw that cover and read the blurb. I love seeing who heroines come in all different shapes and sizes, and body positivity being front-and-center is a plus for me. I also want to know more about this woman who loves gaming and cosplay and feels out of place in her STEM family. The reality show angle has me chomping at the bit because we know I love competition shows. With her best friend posing as her fake boyfriend, I am getting all those friends-to-more feels, too. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

Wish upon a Christmas star with New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery's sparkling Fool's Gold romance!
To bridal boutique owner Madeline Krug, organizing a Christmas wedding sounds like a joy—until she finds out she'll be working closely with the gorgeous brother of the bride, movie star Jonny Blaze. How will a small-town girl like her keep from falling for the world's sexiest guy? Especially with mistletoe lurking around every corner!
Jonny came to Fool's Gold looking for normal, not for love. Happily-ever-after only happens in the movies. Still, nothing about this quirky town is quite what he expected, and "ordinary" Madeline is the most extraordinary woman he's ever met. Refreshingly honest, disarmingly sweet. Achingly beautiful.
Planning the perfect wedding leads to candlelit dinners and strolls through snow-covered streets. And Madeline finds Jonny in real life even more captivating than her celebrity crush. But will the action star be brave enough to risk his heart and step into the role of a lifetime?
Why I’m FINALLY reading it
Honest answer, I like holiday books. I have mentioned before that they make me feel good, and gosh darn it, feeling good is a great thing. I have read one book by Mallery before, though she has a multitude. This being a holiday book and number nineteen in a series, makes me think Mallery is doing something right, right? I am intrigued by Fool’s Gold as well. Always looking for more fantastic fictional towns to visit.

Marry Me at Christmas sounds like a great holiday read! And combined with a wedding? I can’t resist!
Makes me think it will give me the warm fuzzies
I have The Love Con on my list too and now I know it’s being published on my birthday, so maybe that’s a match for me!
Fun! Hope you get to celebrate by reading it!
I loved all those Fool’s Gold holiday romances. They’re so fun!
I think it was Rachel who had recently reviewed the book, and I enjoyed it. I could see me getting to know the Fool’s Gold inhabitants better.
I’ve never read anything by Mallery (her backlist is daunting!) but I adore this cover, and it sounds like such a feel-good holiday story.
Mallery is in the club with Macomber and Roberts — they have a billion books.
Im hoping to start The Love Con soon!
You will probably read it before me. I hope you like it
The cover of The Love Con is fantastic! And like you said, the blurb sounds good, too!
It looks super fun, and I anticipate the story being vibrant too
ooh that Susan Mallery book looks adorable, I just love how festive it is. I do love how feel good holiday romance has.
I am starting it today, so hopefully it’s as cute as the cover.
The Love Con! Oh my goodness, this sounds adorable — and I am interested to see the fish-out-water story in a STEM family (coupled with the rest of this goodness!)
Always interesting to see a story from the odd-man-out’s perspective.
Marry Me at Christmas is giving me major Hallmark holiday movie vibes, which is of course a wonderful thing. 🙂
I am 70% through, and I could see this town being featured in a Hallmark movie. All the nice people who do kind things, and this star finding a place where he can just be himself. It’s a very sweet story
