Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying their day.

I had a four day work week which was going normally until Thursday. I ran this report of web/app feedback that I have to review for complaints and the volume went from 15 -20 to over 200. I knew there must have been a problem on Wednesday. Sure enough, there was an outage. My work day begins at 7 am, and I had to work until 6 pm because of the complaints I had to file. I am sure people had some choice words for me on Friday, but I was on a plane. HA!

Like the worry wart that I am, I got to the airport at 10:30 am for my 2:30 flight and got through TSA in 10 minutes. Great. Really. They changed my gate three times while I was waiting too. But, all went well. Yesterday, my daughter and I went to brunch at The Pierogi Kitchen. It was excellent! Then I watched my daughter dance, and after, we went to hot pot. I had never had that before. It was good and fun. This place had a conveyor belt for many items, and then a little train brought out the meat and cooked kitchen dishes.

After, I made my way back to my daughter's place all on my own. I only really know how to get to and from the airport on the bus/train, and getting from Wicker Park back to Lakeview required two trains. I was stopped by this couple outside the Whole Foods asking for directions, and I actually knew where the place was (they were one block off). You don't understand, I am directionally challenged, so this was major.

I don't what my daughter has planned for us today, but we are doing something. She gave me my mother's day gift - a Miffy purse and Monchhichi keychains. Everything is so cute. I LOVE IT!

Stacking the Shelves

This was a good week. I was very excited when I saw that Jen DeLuca was returning to the Well Met world, and even more excited when I got approved for the new book. I look forward to Emily Stone's books every year. I adored Harding's cowrites and her last solo book, and therefore, thrilled to get her new book. I was just thinking about how nice it would be to read some new Sarah Addison Allen when I saw her book read-now on NG. Had to click, and I had the same instinct when I saw a new Betty Corrello on EW. Thrilled about all of these.

Read Last Week

Emma Grey never fails to annihilate my heart, and she did so again with Start at the End. It was a sliding doors love story that was full of emotion and surprises. Greenwood's Romantic Hero was also fantastic. The concept was fun, and she did it so well. I loved the heroine's journey which I think other will too.

😱 At least it was a four-days week for you, followed by a trip...

LOL! I'm the same...and sometimes I don't even remember the street names in MY OWN TOWN.

    Cute gifts!

I meant to tell you - something weird happened to me with this post. I've always relied on the reading list on my Blogger dashboard to get your updates. I had your URL added and I could see all of them as they came. Now, the last one I got was for the post right before this one, so when I didn't see a Sundays with Sam post appear I worried a little...which prompted me to go to your homepage, and here it was. Apparently, for some reason, I can't get your updates that way any longer (while I'm still getting them for other Blogger blogs, like Mary's or Ethan's). I tried unfollowing your blog and adding the URL again, and same. This bums me a little, because I hate to use Feedly. I'll probably end up checking on your blog manually...anyway, I don't understand what happened...

    1. You want me to remember the names of the streets??? HA! I never used blogger dashboard to follow. I have no idea what the issue could be.

    2. Your updates returned - all of them, even the older ones. A Blogger glitch, probably, though it's odd that it only affected your posts for me.

  6. Hi Sam, I'm glad you're enjoying time with your daughter! I'm chronically challenged when it comes to directions too... Like, cannot find my parked car in a car park, and still put the satnav on to drive to the nearest city because I always take a wrong turning at some point... And it's never the same wrong turn either! (I've only been driving there for the past... 17 years? No biggie. 😂

I was excited for Well Versed too! Isn't it the kid from Well Met/Matched's book? The niece/daughter all grown up?

    1. Yes! It's like Well Met the next generation. I have to admit, I love all the romance series doing this, so it's very welcomed by me. I can follow directions, but I cannot always remember the details one needs to give directions. This is why I was so proud to be able to tell someone where to go in a city that is not my own. Where I parked my car? That is always a struggle except at the train station because I only 8 spots there.
