Sloth Choice Awards - Backlist Books

It's time to celebrate my year in books. I will be spreading my favorites throughout a bunch of categories, but these are all favorites. For more of my favorites, check out my Five Star Friday posts. Today I will be sharing.....
Favorite Backlist Books!

It's that time of year when we reflect on all the books we read and highlight some of our favorites. As I write this, I have read 322 books with a large number being books published before 2025 that I have had on my library wishlist or languishing on my kindle unread. I am happy to have finally made time for these books, and I hope to read even MORE backlist books next year.

  1. The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman
  2. Under the Southern Sky by Kristy Woodson Harvey
  3. The Attic on Queen Street by Karen White
  4. Zorrie by Laird Hunt
  5. The School for Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister

    Same!

    Zorrie sounds particularly intriguing.

    1. I picked it up because I needed a Z book, but it was actually very good. Zorrie was an intriguing character who had a tough but interesting life.

  2. I tend to read mostly backlist! I haven't read any of these, but I do want to catch up on Kristy Woodson Harvey.

    1. Every year I claim I will request less ARCs and read more shelf and library books, but I am weak. Harvey quickly became a favorite she writes wonderful friendships in her books.

  3. I'm still compiling my year end list, but Middlesex is definitely a backlist title that I thoroughly enjoyed.

    1. Middlesex is new-to-me (and quite chonky) but is quite a decorated book from the Goodreads entry. Fun fact, I live in Middlesex county LOL.
