My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! Can you believe June is almost over??? I am grateful that it sped by because this has been a rough month. The past week was oppressively hot. Look, I live in the Northeast, we are not accustomed to temperatures "that feel" like 113°F. Nope. We were rewarded with two cool days though, and I spent as much time outside as I could.
We are getting pounded at work. Last week felt like it lasted a month. At least this upcoming week will be a short one, and with the holiday falling on Friday, I get a three-day weekend. I am glad the new person we added to our team has done so well with her training and has been really flexible. With the volumes and being short staffed, we had to be creative.
My daughter did her annual Garlic Fest dinner party this weekend. I have not seen the food pictures yet, but she did send me a sneak peek of Honkerella's outfit.

Stacking the Shelves
I feel like the summer is always slow with approvals. Though, if I am being honest, I have plenty of books to read. I saw the new Bluebird Basin book for free, so I snatched it up. I have liked this series which tends to have older main characters, though I believe these two are younger.
I also got an invite for the new Heather Webber (which I already have) and As a Last Resort.
Purchased/Free
- Wish You Were Here by Jess K. Hardy
Invites
- The Forget-Me-Not Library by Heather Webber
- As a Last Resort by Kristin Wollett
Read Last Week
Maybe it's the weather or my mood, but I was struggling with a bunch of books this week. I pushed through Consider Yourself Kissed but had to set aside another book. Sometimes I can overlook things in book and still enjoy a story, but I was in a not-having-it mood this week, and it didn't take much to annoy me. I think I will pick the book up again, just not right now.
I am happy to say that both Kristy Woodson Harvey and Lynn Painter continue to delight me. Both books had lots of heart and made me laugh.

A heatwave is coming our way this week! And work is intensive here too! I feel you Sam!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Sophie!
DeleteI don't like extreme heat other but we don't get too much of that (although we will be in the 90's for Monday - but summer is just flyign by and it's making me sad. I hate the cold, wet winter lol
ReplyDeleteI think I would be ok with PNW weather. It's too extreme here. I was reading a book set in OR where they said it never really gets hot there, and I wished their town was real.
DeleteIt has been miserable hot!! I'm already over it. I expect 90 degrees in July where I live, but 12 days of heat advisories? Nope! Thats great you are getting someone else at work to help out! That always feels amazing!
ReplyDeleteI do remember heat like this when I was younger, but I think I block it out. LOL.
DeleteIt's been hot here too. I don't care for Summer.
ReplyDeleteIs it ever not hot by you in the daytime? It tough out west.
DeleteYes, 113 is high for the northeast! We still haven't hit 100 (we're in the low 90s) yet, but I'm sure it's coming. Not looking forward to it. We've been busy at work too, when usually we're a little slower in the summer months. Not sure what's happening. Hope you get some cooler days. I have Heart Marks the Spot, too and I hope we both enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't hit 113, but we did get to 103. It was one of those "feels like". Either way, it was too hot.
DeleteIt was crazy how it was so hot at the beginning of the week and then on Friday, I was wearing a sweatshirt! It was glorious. I hear the weather is going to be hot but generally nice this week.
ReplyDeleteIt was ridiculous hot! I hate the summer.
DeleteWe have also been having a heatwave, so it's in the pool, dry off, into the house, repeat. Today had a breeze so that was nice. I loved that video of the dogs. I'm still laughing. I hope this is a better week for you Sam. Bring on July.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs had me cracking up. The weather is still summer, so not great.
DeleteI hope this week has been better for you! 113 is way too hot.
ReplyDeleteThe Northeast gets the cold and hot. We can't win!
