I love discovering a new-to-me author. It's like it opens up a slew of new possibilities. Matthew Haig is one that has been on my radar for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI read two of his books this year, and both were fabulous. I am very happy I took a chance with him
DeleteI've got The Midnight Library on my list--I've heard great things! Hope to get to it in the near year.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the few books I have read that SO many other people have read. I have to agree with the masses on this one. It's very thought provoking. I hope you get a chance to read it.
DeleteThat's really impressive to try that many new authors!!! I tend to be more nervous with newer authors. I only had 56 haha Looks like you picked up some hits though!
ReplyDeleteSince 2020, I started looking for certain kind of stories, ones I know I will enjoy, and I have had great luck. It's not so much the author, but rather, the type of stories they tell.
DeleteLast year, I kept track of new to me authors, I didn't this year as I had a lot of challenges on the go. I will try again this year. I love finding new authors I enjoy, as then I often have a plethora of books to add to my TBR. 😆
ReplyDeleteYou know what I do, I make a temporary shelf on Goodreads (ntm-2023). It makes it easy for me to parse out books for the year. I also have a column in my tracker, but the GR shelf makes it quick
DeleteIt seems that I have more authors to add to my list!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you will find someone worthy on this list
DeleteKristy Woodson Harvey was new for me this year, too!
ReplyDeleteHer books are so great. Love all the focus on family, friendship, and community.
DeleteMatt Haig was new to me this year as well. I loved his writing and can't wait to try more. I'm happy you found all of these new authors to love!
ReplyDeleteI adored the two books I read. He seems to really embrace mental health issues too
DeleteWow! You read 125 new authors last year? That's amazing! Kristy Woodson Harvey is one I definitely want to try as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so lucky to have great library resources. I can try new authors, more or less, risk free. I may waste a bit of time if it doesn't work out, but I have discovered so many fantastic authors. No regrets.
DeleteI've read one book by Matt Haig and enjoyed it a lot but this one has been on my TBR for a while and I can't wait to read it. So glad you enjoyed it 😍
ReplyDeleteI read two by Haig and this was my favorite of the two. I was just talking about it yesterday, and there is something so special about it. Very thought provoking. I hope you get a chance to read it.
DeleteLoved The Midnight Library - I need to read more Haig!
ReplyDeleteI also read How to Stop Time. Not as thought provoking as Library, but still gave me lots to think about. He's great!
