Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for
A Wish for Christmas by Courtney Cole

In this heartwarming story from New York Times bestselling author Courtney Cole, an unhappily married couple makes a wish on an enchanted snow globe that they had never met, but when they wake up the next day in separate lives, the magic of Christmas helps them to realize that some love is just meant to be.
Two weeks ’til Christmas…
Noel Blake is not in a great place. After several years of marriage, she and her husband Jonah are quietly drifting apart. The only time they really talk at all anymore is when they walk their dog, Elliott. And even then it usually ends in bickering.
When, one snowy day, Elliott manages to slip his leash, they find him blocks away in the care of a mysterious old man who asks them to make a wish on an old snow globe. Eager to get their dog safely home, they agree to his strange request. Neither one realizes that the wish they’re about to make will change the course of their lives... possibly forever.
When Noel and Jonah wake up the next morning, they’re in separate beds, separate apartments, separate lives. But are they any happier? As they live the existences they’d always wished for, both feel that something very important is missing. And when a chance encounter brings the pair back together, they find they have a spark of something very special.
Will they be able to find their way back to each other before it’s too late, or does the Christmas Magic have another fate in store?
I may have never been married, but there is something about seeing a married couple mend their relationship. I guess you these marriage-in-crisis stories are sort of second chance romances which are my favorites. I will never tire of seeing people get a second chance, and that is especially true when it comes to love. The magical touch sounds like a great catalyst to help this couple realize that they still loved each other, and a holiday setting is another great touch for me.
Well Hung by Lauren Blakely

Here’s what you need to know about me—I’m well-off, well-hung and quick with a joke. Women like a guy who makes them laugh—and I don’t mean at the size of his d*ck. No, they want their funny with a side of huge… not to mention loyal. I’ve got all that plus a big bank account, thanks to my booming construction business. Yup. I know how to use all my tools.
Enter Natalie. Hot, sexy, smart, and my new assistant. Which makes her totally off limits... Hey, I’m a good guy. Really. I do my best to stay far away from the kind of temptation she brings to work.
Until one night in Vegas… Yeah, you’ve heard this one before. Bad news on the business front, drowning our sorrows in a few too many Harvey Wallbangers, and then I’m banging her. In my hotel room. In her hotel room. Behind the Titanic slot machine at the Flamingo (don’t ask). And before I can make her say “Oh God right there YES!” one more time, we’re both saying yes—the big yes—at a roadside chapel in front of a guy in press-on sideburns and a shiny gold leisure suit.
But it turns out what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas. And now, my dick doesn’t stay in my pants when she’s around. I try to resist. Honest. But the more we try to keep our hands to ourselves, the more we end up naked again, and the more time I want to spend with her fully clothed, too.
The question now is…do I take this woman to be my ex-wife?
I have had this book for years, and like most of my shelf books, I forgot about it. I am still trying to complete my state challenge, and Nevada is one I must check off. While searching for a Nevada book, I came across this one. What a delight to realize I owned the book, and you know, two birds one stone. This is one of the accidentally married in Vegas type book which I am sure will be filled with lots of humor and rom-com-ish moments.

The cover for A Wish for Christmas is gorgeous! I also love stories about couples trying to mend their relationship and getting that second chance right around the holidays just sounds magical to me. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a lover of all things second chance, those stories tend to strike the right chord with me. And, I agree with you, it's even more magical during the holiday season
DeleteI read Courtney Cole for the first time last year and I have another of her Christmas books on my shelves to read this year. Definitely adding this one to my TBR - I like books that focus on married couples, because we get to see how the "happily ever after" isn't always so happy.
ReplyDeleteIt's a side of romance that deserves attention for sure. Sometimes after the HEA can be scary, but I think it can be inspiring as well.
DeleteI remember loving Well Hung. It had a very different cover when it was released. lol
ReplyDeleteIt's was a good time. I like less sex, more story, but the story that was there was great.
DeleteThe manly torso is still featured on GR. I got this cover from Amazon
DeleteI have Cole's book on my TBR. I'm hoping to pick it up sometime between its release and the end of the year. Blakely's books are usually a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy both!
ReplyDeleteBlakely's book was fun. I wish more of the book was story than sex, but still, I laughed and had a good time reading it.
DeleteThe title alone of Well Hung has me snickering Sam!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty funny when the title is dropped in the story too.
DeleteThe accidently married in Vegas romance can be fun. A marriage-in-crisis story needs to be done right for me to love it. I've read one I absolutely hated. Hope you love both!
ReplyDeleteI have read some great marriage in crisis books, and I like the idea of some holiday magic in this story as these two work their back back to each other.
DeleteI have had a lot of luck with Lauren Blakely in the past but it has been a while since I last picked up one of her books. I hope that you enjoy both of these.
ReplyDeleteI felt the story was a bit sex heavy for me, but I enjoyed the story parts. It was fun and flirty, great friends, and this was a fabulous pairing.
