Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

Cello prodigy Jenny has one goal: to get into a prestigious music conservatory. When she meets mysterious, handsome Jaewoo in her uncle’s Los Angeles karaoke bar, it’s clear he’s the kind of boy who would uproot her careful plans. But in a moment of spontaneity, she allows him to pull her out of her comfort zone for one unforgettable night of adventure…before he disappears without a word. Why I want to read this book
Three months later, when Jenny and her mother arrive in South Korea to take care of her ailing grandmother, she’s shocked to discover that Jaewoo is a student at the same elite arts academy where she’s enrolled for the semester. And he’s not just any student. He’s a member of one of the biggest K-pop bands in the world—and he’s strictly forbidden from dating.
When a relationship means throwing Jenny’s life off the path she’s spent years mapping out, she’ll have to decide once and for all just how much she’s willing to risk for love.
After one magical night together, they never expected to be reunited, but that's just what happened. LOVE. IT. AND!!!! He's not just an everyday boy, he's a K-pop star. That's a lot of fabulous elements all wrapped up in one story. Add that the fact that the story is set in Korea, and I am really excited to see these two get their HEA.

A girl with Tourette syndrome starts at a new school and tries to hide her quirks in this debut middle-grade novel in verse. Why I want to read this book
Astronomy-loving Calliope June has Tourette syndrome, so she sometimes makes faces or noises that she doesn't mean to make. When she and her mother move yet again, she tries to hide her TS. But it isn't long before the kids at her new school realize she's different. Only Calli's neighbor, who is also the popular student body president, sees her as she truly is—an interesting person and a good friend. But is he brave enough to take their friendship public?
As Calli navigates school, she must also face her mother's new relationship and the fact that she might be moving, again, just as she starts to make friends and finally accept her differences.
I added this book to my TBR back in 2016 for multiple reasons. I think I was reading more middle grades back then, and it gave me those heartwarming vibes. I like that it features a character with TS, because that disorder is often the butt of jokes. The story is also written in verse, which I enjoy. I think this will be a feel-good story, which I am truly looking forward to reading.

DeleteXOXO is just too cute! And he's a K-Pop star? This sounds so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI read like 3 K-pop related books this year. The market is really growing for those stories.
DeleteI love the sound of both of these books! I don't think that I have read a book set in Korea and should change that. I think a middle grade book told in verse would be fantastic. Enjoy both of these!
ReplyDeleteForget Me Not was wonderful. I really liked it.
DeleteI keep thinking about reading Marilynne Robinson's latest book, Jack. I don't know why I haven't read it yet!
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with this series, but I would think if you enjoyed the other installments, this could be a winner too
DeleteThe second one was already on my TBR but I added the first! :)

Forget Me Not was so sweet and wonderful. You'll get mad when you read it too, but both main characters grow so much during the story, and it has a great message.
DeleteThat first book gets all the hype!!! Fairyloot even did a special box for it!
ReplyDeleteReally? I think it's going to be really good
