Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for:

For readers of Kara Thomas and Karen McManus, an addictive, twisty crime thriller with shades of Serial and Making a Murderer about a closed local murder case that doesn't add up, and a girl who's determined to find the real killer--but not everyone wants her meddling in the past. Why I want to read this book
Everyone in Fairview knows the story.
Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town.
But she can't shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer?
Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent . . . and the line between past and present begins to blur. Someone in Fairview doesn't want Pip digging around for answers, and now her own life might be in danger.
This is the story of an investigation turned obsession, full of twists and turns and with an ending you'll never expect.
I know! You're wondering who wrote this post. But, seriously, I enjoy a mystery here and there, and this one had captured my interest. The blurb name drops two YA authors I have had great success with, and everything up there sounds like it will drive me to turn those pages.

From the bestselling author of Catching Jordan comes a contemporary YA you won't forget. Why I want to read this book
The finish line is only the beginning.…
Annie hates running. No matter how far she jogs, she can't escape the guilt that if she hadn't broken up with Kyle, he might still be alive. So to honor his memory, she starts preparing for the marathon he intended to race.
But the training is even more grueling than Annie could have imagined. Despite her coaching, she's at war with her body, her mind-and her heart. With every mile that athletic Jeremiah cheers her on, she grows more conflicted. She wants to run into his arms...and sprint in the opposite direction. For Annie, opening up to love again may be even more of a challenge than crossing the finish line.
I had started this series many moons ago, and picked it back up recently. Boy, am I glad I did, because the series has been very, very good to me. Each book had a charming romance, and a great focus on family and friendship, while we take some sort of personal journey with the main characters. I am excited to continue, and I am excited that this heroine is a runner, because that's the only sport I did in high school.

My chances of getting approved are not looking good, as I have been in limbo for months. Hopefully my library gets a copy
DeleteI love the Hundred Oaks series. Oooh, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder looks good to me, too.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Hundred Oaks books that I read, but after reading the very last book, I neglected to go back and read the others I had not read. I am glad I am finally doing it

DeleteHonestly Sam I also want to read Holly Jackson's book!
ReplyDeleteLooks good, right?
DeleteI think Breathe, Annie Breathe is the only book of hers I haven't read yet. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's worth
I am starting it right after I finish these comments. I will have only two more books to read after this one. I am kind of sad about it, but at least Keneally has a new book dropping in 2020
DeleteThe first caught my attention. I love good detective/mystery.
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while I want one, and this one sounds really good
DeleteOOh nice! Those are totally new to me ones! The first sounds particularly interesting! I hope you will thoroughly enjoy both of these!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I have been hearing good things about it, so I am hoping it's a winner for me too
DeleteThe cover of The Good Girls Guide to Murder is quite striking. I like the sound of it. I remember when Breathe, Annie, Breathe came out. I hope you enjoy both of these, Sam!
ReplyDeleteBreathe, Annie, Breathe has me crying. Obviously, I love it
DeleteOh my I love all of Miranda Kenneally's books so much. Breathe, Annie, Breathe is such a good one!
ReplyDeleteKenneally knows how to get to my emotions. I am cycling through happiness and sadness as I read Annie's book.
DeleteThat name drop of Kara Thomas and Karen McManus DEFINITELY gets my attention!
ReplyDeleteRight? I have loved their books, so it's sounds really promising to me.
DeleteI've loved Karen McManus' books so I'm definitely interested! I have a copy of Breathe, Annie, Breathe but I just haven't got around to it. I'm interested to hear your reactions, Sam. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy I returned to reading The Hundred Oaks books. Every one of them is so good. The balance of heartbreaking and heartwarming is something Kenneally is so good at
DeleteNice ones. A Good Girl's Guide To Murder sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI really hope I get a chance to read it. I feel like I could love it
DeleteOh, I am loving A Good Girl's Guide to Murder! And I think I need to add Thomas and McManus to my TBR as well!
ReplyDeleteI am HUGE McManus fan, and Thomas' books have been great for me too. I hope you get to sample their work
DeleteA Good Girl's Guide to Murder sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see if it lives up to the name drop in the synopsis
DeleteBreathe, Annie, Breathe is SO GOOD. I read that a few years ago and then proceeded to read the rest of the series (that one was still my favorite). It even made me buy running shoes and attempt to get back into running lolol. Spoiler alert, it never happened. Either way, I hope you end up liking it!
ReplyDeleteAnnie was phenomenal. So much more than I expected, though, I should never under estimate Kenneally. I read the first two books and then the final book of the series, and didn't go back to it until recently, when I participated in the #ReadForGrace event. I am glad I did. I only have two books left. I loved that Kenneally talked about getting into running in the afterword. She always seems to put parts of herself in these books, and I really appreciate that she takes the time to explain how they relate to her. I used to run A LOT in high school, and now I have no knees! I would love to get back into it though. Cheap and easy exercise.
DeleteHope you enjoy A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I liked the mystery element to it.
ReplyDeleteI hope it lives up to the name drop, because it would be great for me if it did
DeleteA Good Girl's Guide to Murder sounds really good. I'm always up for a suspenseful read with a good mystery.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping it is. It's really calling to me
DeleteI'm not huge on sports books, but I'm all about murder mysteries!
ReplyDeleteAnnie wasn't really a sports book. It more about her healing journey as she comes to terms with the death of her first love. The training is to run the marathon he had been training for before his death. I read it yesterday, and I loved it.
DeleteThe Hundred Oaks series sounds awesome! Hope you enjoy both of these.
ReplyDeleteI am so, so glad I finally continued the series
DeleteOh perfect. I'm planning to read more thriller/mystery in 2020 and A Good Girl's Guide to Murder sounds perfect to add to the TBR.
ReplyDeleteI am very interested. I have had some luck with YA mystery/thrillers, and if this book is anything like the authors they mentioned, I should love it
DeleteIt's always fun to read outside of your genre! I hope you'll enjoy the mystery. Also also, I remember when Breathe Anna Breathe was across all the blogs :D I need to read that one still too.
ReplyDeleteI read very little mystery/thriller, but I have been lucky to find some good ones. Breathe, Annie, Breathe was an amazing read for me. So glad I finally read it
DeleteI'm not one for mysteries/thrillers either but I can see why you're interested in A Good Girl's Guide To Murder!
ReplyDeleteI read very few, but I have been lucky with the ones I did choose to read. Hopefully this one is a winner for me too
