Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
Of Curses and Kisses
Sandhya Menon
Series: St. Rosetta's Academy, #1
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Release Date: February 18, 202

From the New York Times bestselling author of When Dimple Met Rishi comes the first novel in a brand-new series set at an elite international boarding school, that’s a contemporary spin on Beauty and the Beast.

Will the princess save the beast?

For Princess Jaya Rao, nothing is more important than family. When the loathsome Emerson clan steps up their centuries-old feud to target Jaya’s little sister, nothing will keep Jaya from exacting her revenge. Then Jaya finds out she’ll be attending the same elite boarding school as Grey Emerson, and it feels like the opportunity of a lifetime. She knows what she must do: Make Grey fall in love with her and break his heart. But much to Jaya’s annoyance, Grey’s brooding demeanor and lupine blue eyes have drawn her in. There’s simply no way she and her sworn enemy could find their fairy-tale ending…right?

His Lordship Grey Emerson is a misanthrope. Thanks to an ancient curse by a Rao matriarch, Grey knows he’s doomed once he turns eighteen. Sequestered away in the mountains at St. Rosetta’s International Academy, he’s lived an isolated existence—until Jaya Rao bursts into his life, but he can't shake the feeling that she’s hiding something. Something that might just have to do with the rose-shaped ruby pendant around her neck…

As the stars conspire to keep them apart, Jaya and Grey grapple with questions of love, loyalty, and whether it’s possible to write your own happy ending.
Why I want to read this book

My love for Menon's books is the worst kept secret in these parts. I fell in love with her via When Dimple Met Rishi, and she kept me coming back with From Twinkle With Love and There's Something About Sweetie. At this point, she's an auto-read for me, but I am also excited about the premise. It's a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which is set in an elite boarding school. If I wasn't excited enough, it's also the beginning of a series, and that just means more and more books by Menon for me to read.

Brave Enough
Kati Gardner
Series: Brave Enough, #1
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Flux
Release Date: August 21, 2018

Teenager Cason Martin is the youngest ballerina in the Atlanta Ballet Conservatory. She never really had a choice of whether she learned to dance or not. Her mother, the conservatory's artistic director, has made all the decisions in Cason's life. But that's about to change. Cason has been hiding an injury, and it's much worse than anyone imagines.

Davis Channing understands all too well what it's like to give up control of your life. He's survived cancer, but his drug addiction nearly killed him. Now he's been sober for seven months and enjoying his community service at the hospital. But just when he thinks he's got it together, Davis's ex-girlfriend, who is still battling her addiction, barrels back into his life.

Cason and Davis are not friends. But, as their worlds collide, they will start to depend on one another. Can they both be brave enough to beat the odds?"
Why I want to read this book

I had added this book, because it's about a ballet dancer, and I love stories featuring dancers. But, it's about a ballet dancer, who discovers she has cancer. Sounds like it will be quite emotional as she not only battles the cancer, but deals with how it will affect her future. The story also features a cancer survivor, who is also a former addict. I am interested to see how these two characters storylines mesh and also how they play out.

    1. Agreed. Cancer books are tough, but I usually enjoy sick kid lit. They are normally filled with fighters and they remind me that time is a precious commodity.

    1. Once I read Dimple and Rishi, I was trash for her. She has not disappointed me, not once. This is a bit of switch, but I feel like it will be equally outstanding.
