My Week in Review
I think the most notable thing that happened this week, was that I confirmed the existence of the rooster! We were driving home from the train station the other day, and there he was, just walking the yard. He is brown and he is very real. I feel vindicated, since my daughter kept making me feel like I was experience auditory hallucinations.
Today, we are going to our first show of the season at Paper Mill. We are seeing Chasing Rainbows, which is based on Judy Garland's life. Really looking forward to that.
I will probably be MIA this upcoming week, as I will be aboard my Disney Halloween Cruise. I am very excited to be cruising again. It really is the most relaxing vacation, and I am going to nice, cool places. And, no plane! We are leaving out of the NYC for the very first time, so I am just taking the train to Penn and an Uber the last two miles to the port. I heard the waters are a little rougher up here, but I usually do well, because the boat is so large. Sloth is very excited for our trip to. He had Kiersten make him a tie with some leftover witchy fabric so that he is well dressed for the cruise.

STACKING THE SHELVES
I got a bunch of fabulous books this week, but my pièce de résistance is Four Days of You and Me. My squeal of joy was probably heard overseas, when I saw it for download on Edelweiss. It's been quite a while since Kenneally released a book, and this one sounds fantastic.
Edelweiss/NetGalley
- Four Days of You and Me by Miranda Kenneally
- Win Big by Kelly Jamieson
- I, Cosmo by Carlie Sorosiak
- Marriage on Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne
- The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa
- How to Speak Boy by Tiana Smith
What I Read Last Week
I feel very successful this week. I have zero DNFs, and I knocked out two more states for my reading challenge. I had two favorites this week - The Only Thing Worse Than Me is You and Our Year in Love and Parties. I found myself fully engrossed in both books and loved almost every second of both books, though then ending of Love and Parties was a bit too open for me.
Books
- Our Year in Love and Parties by Karen Hattrup - ★★★★ 1/2
- The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson - ★★★★★ review
- In the Hall with the Knife by Diana Peterfreund - ★★★★
- The Library of Lost Things by Laura Taylor Namey - ★★★★
- Love Scene, Take Two by Alex Evansley - ★★★★
- Little Town on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder - ★★★★ review
- Be With Me by J. Lynn - ★★★ 1/2 review
What I Am Currently Reading
It's amazing how Becky can still delight me after so many books. Watching her plan the Christmas holiday is like watching a train wreck, though way more humorous.
Rush has all that high drama and angst that I expect from Scott, though, I just realized this has a concluding novella, which is NOT available at Hoopla. --sigh--
- Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
- Rush by Emma Scott (audiobook)
What I Plan to Read
- The Paris Project by Donna Gephart
- Friend or Fiction by Abby Cooper
- Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren
- Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberley, Austin Siegemund-Broka

Chasing Rainbows sounds wonderful. And have a great cruise! I'm hoping to do a Disney cruise at some point. They look fun.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that wombat!!!
This is my 4th cruise, and I have been really happy with each and every one. Disney is a brand that I can trust. I saw a clip of Chasing Rainbows, and the dancing and music looks awesome. I always was sad for Judy Garland, though, her family really exploited her.
DeleteI've heard the Disney cruises are nice, that's the route we'll probably go when we get around to doing one. Sounds like a great way to relax (and read a lot lol).
DeleteThat's sad about Judy Garland though.
The Alaskan cruise was my favorite. You're sort of closer to that port too (Vancouver). I have not been on any other lines, but I can say, Disney fits for me.
DeleteSloth looks all ready for his holiday for sure! I always take one of my monkeys with me on every trip I take! Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteYou and my daughter sound like kindred spirits. She has the core-four, who she always travels with, and Sloth is one of them. I look forward to seeing the pictures she arranges with him. They are always so fun.
DeleteOMG have fun on the cruise!!! That's so freaking exciting! I've always wanted to go on a Disney Cruise.
ReplyDeleteI got sent a physical ARC for Marriage in Madison Avenue and I'm eagerly waiting for the mail to get here! Also, I'm looking forward to your review of Always Never Yours!
Genesis @ Whispering Chapters
I love cruising. They are the most relaxing vacations. You can do as much or as little as you want. I highly recommend.
DeleteOh wow! I've never been on a cruise myself. I'd definitely want my first one to be a Disney one for obvious reasons! And ooh, a Halloween cruise?! That's even cooler!! Hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeleteNice new reads too! New to me ones as usual, but I hope you will enjoy them all!
Here's my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I love cruises so much, I should be am ambassador for them. This is only the second year, that I was not held captive by the school calendar, and I was thinking the Halloween cruise would be fun.
DeleteHave a great time on the cruise!! OMG that sounds so fun.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're enjoying the new Shopaholic book! And how is the third Park Avenue book coming out already?? I feel like I just read the first one.
I'm excited! Becky is a favorite character, and she is still up to her old antics, while always ending up making me all mushy. It's been fun. Romance writers push out books like crazy! It always amazes me how fast they get new books published.
DeleteHope you've tons of fun at the Disney Halloween Cruise. Can't wait to hear all about it.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I told my daughter she had the important task of photographing everything.
DeleteEnjoy the cruise! I expect at least a few dozen photos when you return! :) Have the best time!
ReplyDeleteThe kid is in charge of capturing Sloth's magic moments, so I think we will get lots of fun pics.
DeleteI hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise! I'm also hesitant to go on them but would make an exception for a Disney cruise, especially a Halloween themed one.
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of cruising and now that I am not ruled by the school calendar, there are so many options open to me. My daughter told me she loaded up her kindle and just plans to relax, and a cruise is great for that.
DeleteHa! I'm glad you were able to spot your rooster. Yay!! Cruise!!
ReplyDeleteYep. Not losing my mind. He was real.
DeleteI'm cracking up over the rooster! XD Have so much fun on your Disney Cruise! They're always an amazing time, but I've never gotten to do a Halloween one!
ReplyDeleteI almost jumped out of the moving car. I knew I was hearing a rooster. Agreed. Disney cruises, and cruises in general are fabulous. They are vacations, where I actually can relax.
DeleteI hope today's show is a good one. I'm interested in the Judy Garland movie coming up with Renee Zellwegger. Might even get me to a theater for the first time in a year or so. :) How exciting about the cruise! I've never done a Disney one but I'm sure they're excellent. Disney always does everything top notch. Can't wait to hear all about it. Ugh, lame that the novella following Rush isn't available on Hoopla. I plan on starting Twice in a Blue Moon soon, too. Hope we both love it!
ReplyDeleteThe show is fantastic. Rush was a complete story after all. The novella covers what happened when they were separated. That worked out. This is my 4th cruise with Disney and my 3rd different port of departure. All have been stupendous
DeleteEnjoy the cruise, Sam! I have always wondered if that would be something that I would enjoy. Of course, living in Missouri would mean the additional challenge of traveling to port. The play sounds wonderful! You added so many great reads this week and I hope you enjoy all of them. Have a fantastic week!
ReplyDeleteThey do very few cruises out of NY, but Disney is starting to spread the love. I know they are departing from CA, Vancouver, the Gulf, and a lot out of FL. I love cruising. It's like all R & R
DeleteHave fun on your cruise!!! It sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am so ready for a vacation.
DeleteOmg have so much fun on the cruise! I've seen videos of the Halloween Disney ones, and they look stunning! And I'm so glad that you seemed to have enjoyed In the Hall with a Knife, since that's been one of my most anticipated reads. Wonderful post, Sam, and enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteAny Disney cruise is good. This is my 4th, and I have no complaints from my previous trips.
DeleteOMG Sam enjoy your cruise! This seems so relaxing and fun! And yes that wombat is something LOL
ReplyDeleteThey really are the most relaxing vacations, because you get to go to different destinations without having to pack and whatnot. We usually just enjoy the boat. Everything is really casual, and I am fully there for that.
DeleteHave fun on your cruise! I expect sloth pics LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo...the kid dared to question your hearing? Never mess with momma! She knows her roosters!
I've already included both Lauren's and the Orangutan Librarian's posts in my Tooting Your Trumpet one scheduled for next Sunday...well, the more exposure, the better!
Love the vids and the panda pic LOL.
My daughter had me questioning what I heard. She's very convincing. BUT, I was right! Definitely more = better
DeleteI'm hoping to take a Disney Cruise for my 50th birthday. I've always wanted to take a cruise and Disney is just the obvious no-brainer. I'm thinking about doing their Alaska cruise since some of them depart from Seattle, or I may go all out and do a cruise to the Bahamas or the Virgin Islands.
ReplyDeleteThe Alaskan one is still my favorite. The state is beautiful, and I really enjoyed everything about it. They did departures one year from Seattle, but switched back to Vancouver. Not sure, if they ever went back, but it would have been a cheaper flight for me had we left from there.
DeleteI hope you have a wonderful time on the Disney cruise! Sloth is looking very dapper. :)
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I'd freak if I had to go on a cruise... I don't like being out at sea one little bit. I get major anxiety whenever I'm on a boat but I've never been on a cruise ship before. Just passenger ferries travelling to Europe and Ireland mostly.
Kiersten always talked about making some clothes for Sloth, so I was impressed it actually happened, and it was way cute. My sister always thought she would hate being "trapped" on a boat, but after one cruise, she was addicted. It's like a floating city. I'm a big fan.
DeleteI hope you have a fabulous time on your cruise! I would LOVE to do a Disney cruise ... maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I hope you get to go one day. They are worth every penny.
DeleteOooh! Chasing Rainbows sounds really interesting! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
It was wonderful! Thanks!
DeleteIt sounds like you have an exciting week planned for up ahead! Enjoy the show and your cruise as well. And yay for the existence of the rooster being proven hehe. You're not crazy!
ReplyDeleteYes, the rooster was not a figment of my imagination. Vindicated! I have a few house until we head towards the city, and I cannot wait to board that ship!!!
DeleteEnjoy the show and have a blast on the cruise! That wombat is too cute:)
ReplyDeleteThe show was ah-mazing! And, the worst part about vacation is when it ends. *sad face*
Deletehave a great time on the cruise and i love those critter vids
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I have no idea how we lived without animal videos in our past. They are a huge source of happiness for me.
DeleteHave tons of fun on the cruise! I’ve only been on one cruise, and I spent most of it throwing up. Turns out, I get seasick. It would have been nice to know that before I went, but we have a serious lack of oceans where I live.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
This was our 4th cruise, and we never had any issues, but my daughter was ill our last day at sea. The North Atlantic is a lot rougher than all the other cruises we took.
