Top Ten Tuesday: You Can Quote Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

You Can Quote Me!

When I was preparing for this week's topic, I scrolled through my many, many, MANY quotes saved on GoodReads, and I was overwhelmed by the number of amazing quotes I had saved. I seem to be especially fond of John Green, and I do feel he can turn a phrase and plant some nuggets of wisdom in all his books, but I am not going to do a list of John Green quotes. It was hard to pick just ten, but these really spoke to me.
  1. Looking For Alaska by John Green

  2. The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

  3. To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee

  4. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

  5. The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket

  6. I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

  7. Landline by Rainbow Rowell

  8. Lady Windermere's Fan by Oscar Wilde

  9. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

  10. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Is there an author you find really "quotable"?

  1. A couple of quotes from To Kill a Mockingbird made my list this week too. I think that's the most quotable book I've ever read, probably just because I've re-read it so many times.

    1. Since I stick to the ten in top ten, I decided not to duplicate books, though, I think I had three from To Kill a Mockingbird on my short list.

    1. I adore that SJM quote, and love that Kiersten put it on her graduation cap. That Tolkien quote has been a favorite of mine forever, and becomes more and more meaningful the older I get.

  4. John Green really does have some amazing quotes. I could have done a whole post on quotes from Harry Potter and Perks of Being a Wallflower too - and Oscar Wilde! Love the one you chose.

  5. Honestly, it would be pretty easy to do a whole list of nothing but John Green quotes. I understand wanting to mix things up, though.

  7. To Kill a Mockingbird has so many great quotes. And I like and remember the one from Landline even though I didn’t necessarily love the book.

    1. I loved Landline. I am in the minority, who like RR's adult books better than her YA

    2. Attachments is actually my favorite by RR (well, tied with E&P) but I just couldn’t connect with Georgie. I almost felt like she didn’t really deserve Neil.

    3. But watching her fall back in love with him was beautiful for me. (and Attachments is really underrated, because it was phenomenal).

    4. Oh my gosh, I so agree about Attachments being underrated. I feel like all people talk about is Fangirl. But Attachments was so amazing. And now I totally want to do a reread. :)

  19. Excellent Quotes Sam! #4 really spoke to me. How often do we wish we could go back to yesterday, but the truth is we were different people. I look at myself in old pictures and videos and recognize that I was so different from the person I am now. Hardship, life, and the wisdom that comes with it, has a way of making us a different person. I love this week’s Top Ten Focus! Thanks for sharing!
