A pitch perfect novel about friendship and what it takes to break the bonds between friends, “for fans of Morgan Matson and Sarah Dessen” (VOYA).I read my first Sara Barnard book, A Quiet Kind of Thunder, at the end of last year, and I absolutely loved it! She knows how to write a story that tugs at the heartstrings and is filled with so many fabulous characters, who I could not help but love. I am hoping for more the same from her new release, Fragile Like Us. This is story that focuses on a female friendship, and what happens when the dynamic changes.
Caddy and Rosie have always been inseparable. But that was before Suzanne. Now the twosome has become a triangle with constantly shifting alliances.
Caddy’s ready to be more than just the quiet one. She wants something to happen. Suzanne is trying to escape her past and be someone different, someone free. But sometimes downward spirals have a momentum of their own. And no one can break your heart like a best friend.
I love character driven stories and stories about friendships. This one sounds like it may be more sad than happy, but I am still interesting in seeing how Barnard presents this to us.
What are you waiting on?
Let us know in the comments!
Oh I LOVE friendship books-- especially friend break-up/make-up ones for some reason. Or unhealthy friendships and codependent ones. Really just all the messed-up friend books!!! (or happy ones could work too-- but happy isn't as much my thing).
ReplyDeleteI just always like that peek into friendship dynamics. I fell like this will have some painful moments, but because it Barnard, I think it will turn out fabulous
DeleteDefinitely want to give this one a try. I love friendship-centered stories!
ReplyDeleteBarnard's last book was so beautifully written. She knows how to capture emotions so well, and I think she will really do the story justice.
DeleteFemale friendships can be so complex, can't they? I hope this is a wonderful read, Sam!
ReplyDeleteI think it will be hopeful, because of the previous books I have read by Barnard.
DeleteAwesome pick this week! This is new to me, but i love friendship stories and I will definitely check this one out. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteMy CWW
I just want to read more from Barnard. The friendship focus is a plus for me.
DeleteI love story about friendships too! Hope you love this one. Looking forward to your review when you finish it!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping I can get a copy of this book, because I cannot wait to review it.
DeleteFriendship center stories are something I enjoy reading. Thanks for sharing this one!
ReplyDeleteFriendship stories are probably only second to romances for me.
DeleteI agree with you I love a book where friendship is at the forefront. I hope you enjoy this one!
ReplyDeleteI usually enjoy these stories, and I think this will end up having a positive tone (at least I hope so).
DeleteI haven't read her debut but she sounds like an author I need to try! I love how happy they look in this cover! :)
ReplyDeleteShe actually has a bunch of books. In fact, this was already published in the UK, but it seems Simon Pulse has been publishing them over here, which is awesome, because I loved her last book and want to read more.
DeleteI love that the focus of this book is on female friendships - they can be wonderful, but they can also be difficult!
ReplyDeleteI like friendship books, and this one sounds like it will thoughtfully examine that dynamic that exists between young women, which I am fascinated by.
DeleteI enjoy friendship based books so I will definitely have to give this one a try!

They are usually always winners for me.
DeleteOoh a book about friendship! I'm curious. It can be tough to be in a group of 3 friends; it's easy for someone to be left out.

It sounds like there are two and a new one comes in and shakes up the "fragile" bond. I am eager to see how it all plays out.
DeleteThis sure does sound like a book that would tug at your heartstrings. Sounds like a good friendship book. I am curious to see how it will play out.
ReplyDeleteMary my Can’t Wait Wednesday!
I am hoping it has a lot of character growth and an HEA, because I need those in my life.
DeleteFriendships between girls (especially teen girls) can be so strong but also so volatile and fragile. This sounds like a good one!
ReplyDeleteSo true! But I think this will have a positive outcome, which is why I would want to read it. You know how I am about HEAs.
DeleteCute pick! Not really my kind of read but I hope you thoroughly enjoy it once you read it!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!

I think it will be.
DeleteI'm starting to read more contemporaries and friendship stories are always nice. This one sound great, nice pick.
ReplyDeleteFriendship and family stories are up there with romance for me (which is saying a lot). I think everyone can relate to a friendship story on some level, and therefore, they have a wide appeal.
DeleteOh yes! I'm always up for more books by Sara Barnard. I had actually forgotten this was coming out soon so thanks for the reminder :)
ReplyDeleteI need all her books!
