Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Book Titles That Remind Me of Songs
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This is the last week of me having to make up a topic (Thank goodness! How do they do it?!), and I want to talk about
Book Titles That Remind Me of Songs!
I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but there are book titles that make me start singing, because the title reminds me of a song I know. It can sort of make me nuts, but I cannot seem to make it stop. There are series, which I know must intentionally be named after songs, like Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor or Ann Aguirre's 2B Trilogy, but there are some that I am not sure if it was intentional or accidental, and there are others that are just one little word away from a song title. These are all books I have read in the recent past or one's that I cannot escape. Either way, I am sorry if I plant any earwigs.
Since You've Been Gone Morgan Matson Series: n/a Publisher: Simon & Schuster
I could totally see that. I think Patsy Kline's Crazy would pop into my head too or Madonna's Crazy for You. And that Matson book is one I cannot escape! At least the song is pretty good, right?
I love this post! :D It's highly likely that NONE of the books really match the songs, but just because of the titles they kind of work. Haven't read any of these ones to say for sure. :P Thanks for sharing!
There are a few that work. Both the Kelly Clarkson songs work for the books. I think About a Girl and Firework work well too, and probably By Your Side too.
Great Top Ten topic, Sam! I didn't recognize a couple of the songs but a few made me instantly nostalgic. I don't think I've seen the Who's That Girl video in 20+ years. LOL
See. I apologized up front about the earwig thing, but seriously, I was telling my co-worker about this and then she had Kelly Clarkson stuck in her head too. Every. Time.
Since You've Been Gone reminds me of a song, definitely, but not that one. There must be another song with that title out there. And Who's That Girl definitely reminds me of the Madonna song lol. Love it!
Funny, when I started reading for pleasure again, I read all my daughter's book -- lots of paranormal and dystopians. But my first love has always been contemporary romance. This was a really fun topic actually, but I am glad we will have our TTT topics from the Broke and the Bookish again next week.
This is such an awesome post, Sam! You're right, there really are a ton of book titles out there that make me think of songs. Sine You've Been Gone is a great pick! I scanned my own shelves to see if there were any that are similar to song titles, but not many fantasy novel titles work well with song titles! 😂
I love It! A challenge! It us funny you say that, because when I asked my co-blogger about thus post, she said she would have to think about it, and she is more of a dystopian, paranormal, fantasy reader.
I find I get ear-wormed by Patrick Ness's More Than This and of course Geraldine Brooks's The Secret Chord, which is, if not intentional, inspired by the same biblical verse behind the song Hallelujah. And "Hello?" makes me think more of Lionel Richie, though the Adele song is one I'd much rather have stuck in my head!
Yes, I totally hear Lionel Richie too, but Adele's song was every where at one point, so it came to mind first. Wow, More Than This - such a great song. I have not thought of it in forever.
Yes! Since You've Been Gone immediately made me think of Kelly Clarkson.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, Britney Spears' You Drive Me Crazy reminds me of Robin Reul's book, My Kind of Crazy.

DeleteOh my I love, love this post. Since You've Been Gone always makes me think of the song! You paired all of these so well!!
ReplyDeleteYep! Matson's book was the one that inspired this list.
DeleteGreat Top Ten topic, Sam! I didn't recognize a couple of the songs but a few made me instantly nostalgic. I don't think I've seen the Who's That Girl video in 20+ years. LOL
ReplyDeleteI originally have Romancing the Throne with Romancing the Stone on the list too. Does that one take you back?
DeleteYes! A little Eddy Grant happening. And now I need to go YouTube that video for a few laughs.
DeleteSee. You get me!
DeleteOh boy, I think I'll be hearing Since You've Been Gone all day today. =) Love this post, and love the pairing.
ReplyDeletePS. I enjoy reading you comments very much.

ReplyDeleteFireworks is a good one too! :)
Maybe this one by The Outfield?
DeleteOOoh good topic choice! And picks! Though a lot of these are totally new to me ones! I guess my paranormal reads are harder to find in lyrics!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!

DeleteI love your top ten list! I always notice when books share a song title.
ReplyDeleteI notice and then I start singing and singing. The Shalvis books really did a number on me with all those great oldies tunes.
DeleteOh wow, what a great topic! I've never though about it before, but I loved your list :)
ReplyDeleteI was inspired when I found myself singing "Since You've Been Gone" again(!), and I got to feature some older books too, which I really loved.
DeleteThis never crossed my mind before! I'll probably see this more in the books I read because I'll be looking for it subconsciously C:
ReplyDeleteI do this all the time. Titles, phrases I hear on TV or when people are talking can cause me to break out in song

DeleteSuch a fun post! I sing the Kelly Clarkson song in my head every time I see Since You've Been Gone, haha.
ReplyDeleteI also like the Bonnie Raitt song for I Believe in a Thing Called Love. The song by Darkness is the one that always pops into my head.
Wow! That's an oldie, but now I remember it. BTW - that video was so weird. 😆

ReplyDeleteThis was a super-fun post, and I liked that I got to show off some books that may be new to some people.
